Announcement and receipt ceremony of "Con Dao Prison" - national special vestige

Evening of 23-3, at Con Dao district center, the district Party Committee, the People"s Council and People"s Committee held a ceremony to announce and receive the certificate of rank for the special national vestige - Con Dao Prison. The excellent art program themed "Sparkling Pearl Island" reappeared the process of establishment, struggle and construction of Con Dao.

The program was telecasted live between Con Dao - the mainland with two main areas - centers of Con Dao district and Ba Ria city. Particularly, in Con Dao district, the program took place in two stages, in front of the administrative district and pier 914. More than 4,000 thousand people, the armed forces based in Con Dao attended; program also attracted many domestic and international tourists.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, ritual of the announcement and receipt ceremony of the Con Dao Prison – a special national vestige took place solemnly, emotionally. On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan awarded the certificate for special recognition to the representatives of the province and Con Dao district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan stated that the Prime Minister signed a decision to recognize the Con Dao historical prison as a special national relic and expressed the profound gratitude to more than 20,000 Vietnamese indomitable patriots who struggled and laid down in prison for the independence and freedom of the motherland, make Con Dao became a most sacred land of Vietnam. This decision is to affirm the great value, cannot let Con Dao historical prison eroded, to educate morally "When drinking water, remember its source", to raise awareness of national pride and responsibility treatment of the Vietnamese youth with the destiny of the country in the 21st century.

On behalf of the Party, Government, army and people of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in general, Con Dao district in particular, Mr. Tran Minh Sanh – Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee - expressed the determination and effort to the conservation tasks, embellishment and promotion in maximum of the value of cultural and historical relics of Con Dao prison, gradually build Con Dao become a destination for local and foreign tourists.

The combination of dance, singing, images shown on the screen through the performances of singers, musicians ... outlined the process of growth from a poor district and undeveloped infrastructure became an island district with a high economic growth rate; aspects of education, health, culture, etc... are remarkable developments. Among them, Con Dao image of peace, gentleness has a special architecture overall of an urban area, particular aspect, unlike any other city in the world and the Con Dao National Park – a diversified ecosystem of the Con Dao sea, forest which was shown repeatedly on the big theater screen.
